The Heritage Center’s collections showcase Lancaster’s unique and rich design heritage, and include  3700 objects of Lancaster’s material culture.

Our collections reflect the influences of Lancaster’s 18th century English and German origins, and the assimilation of their techniques, which melded into our distinctive community of Pennsylvania German artisans. While Lancaster is often viewed as “sheltered” by the outside world, our works depict centuries of influences from artisan neighbors and travelers from other faiths and cultures.
